The Germany-wide Read-Aloud Day is an occasion for us to celebrate reading aloud in different languages. Every year some of our Secondary School students read their favorite stories to our students in Grades 1 to 5. End of November our young students listened to stories in Korean, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Ukrainian, English, Hindi, and many more. A highlight was the reading session by author Kim Soderstrom, who joined our Grade 1 online from New York City and read her book “The Grabbits”. It was great to see how our MYP and DP students shined with their reading skills and inspired our PYP students, who, even if they did not always understand everything, listened intently and loved the sound of the different languages. Especially the children who heard the story in their mother tongue were very proud to help with the translation.
