Support Us

At this point we want to ask for your support. More specifically, your contribution to our fundraising projects will enable DIS to continue its dedication to the DIS Mission, and ensure the future of continuing our history of academic excellence in international education. Your gift helps to build the future of DIS.

Why is it important to support DIS?

  •

To create more opportunities for children and youth to “learn how to learn” in a school where diversity in the classroom is a normal way of life.

  •

To ensure that more students in our school become critical and compassionate thinkers, so that they later become informed participants in local and world affairs

  •

High percentage of DIS families are paying no or a reduced school fee. There is no selection of students based on their parent’s income. It is always about the student’s ability and if the student fits to the programme.

  •

To support the economic development of Saxony, with DIS serving as a key “Standortfaktor”

  •

To support a school that goes beyond intellectual rigour, by emphasizing the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship

  •

To help create an international cultural centre in Dresden, where families of all nationalities can meet.

  •

The school maintains a balanced budget, but thus far has not been able to set aside capital assessment fees as a capital reserve. Reason: Not-for-profit organization (GmbH mit Gemeinnützigkeitsstatus)

  •

To meet the requirements for DIS as an International Baccalaureate World School, to be on the cutting edge of international education and to achieve accreditation status from CIS / NEASC, it is important to contribute to different school projects so that the school can ensure their quality.

Campus Greening Project

We are raising funds for our Campus Greening Project, The concept was developed collaboratively between DIS students, who provided ideas for improvement of the schoolyard, and a student at the Technical University Dresden.

The project aims to:

  • reduce campus heat retention as a climate mitigation strategy
  • provide opportunities for sustainability education and active learning
  • increase campus biodiversity
  • increase access to green spaces and areas for relaxation.

The project will include removing areas of asphalt to plant directly in our schoolyard, facade greening, and raised planters for student participation and service learning. This will be done in phases.

Our schoolyard has been a construction site since the fall break (Oct 2024). The first phase of our campus greening project is officially underway! During the fall break, the asphalt was removed, and the ground was prepared for a greener, cooler, and more sustainable space for our school community.

In November we planted 15 trees, shrubs and other low plants, furthering our mission to make the campus a more relaxing, climate-conscious environment. In addition, all trees worth 20,000 Euros were donated.

Our first sub-project was officially completed and handed over on 11 December 2024. We are delighted that the new space can now be used by the students.

This incredible initiative would not be possible without the generous support of our families, foundations, and corporate partners. THANK YOU to all who have supported the project so far!

The various sub-projects cost between 40,000 and 150,000 Euros, some of which can be subsidized by the SAB (Sächsische Aufbaubank). So far we have a pledged an amount of 85,000 EUR from our community. This incredible initiative would not be possible without the generous support of our families, foundations, and corporate partners. THANK YOU to all who have supported the project so far!

Support us! Let's bring this project to life!

Adopt a Tree

As part of our Campus Greening Project, we initated our "ADOPT A TREE"-campaign! We planted 15 trees into our new green school yard area.

We are thrilled to announce that all 15 trees were sponsored, thanks to the wonderful support of our “Adopt A Tree” donors. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed!

Thank you for helping us make this important project a reality!

Green Island

As part of the Campus Greening Project, we are planning to install a "green island" in front of the school. This island will include one tree from our current parking lot and seating areas. (Info: all trees currently growing at the parking lot need to be removed or given away due to the planned extension building.)

The new green island will transform the front area of our school into a more inviting, functional, and eco-friendly space. It will provide much-needed seating for students, parents, and visitors who often gather here to wait, meet, and connect.

The last couple weeks, we received a number of community donations for our “green island” in front of the school, also because we joined the Giving Tuesday 2024. We will continue to collect money.
We want to express our heartfelt thanks for the community effort to make these developments a reality. Not only does this project support our campus sustainability, it makes our environment a more attractive and comfortable space for our learners.

If you would still like to donate toward this project, kindly contact Ms. Konstanze Kirsch.
