Transitioning to a new school, new city, new culture and perhaps a new language can be a daunting and sometimes lonely experience. Here at DIS, we would like to make this transition as smooth and easy as possible, not only for children, but for parents too.
Our DIS Community Network Facebook Group offers a wide arrange of ways to help in your transition. It offers a huge network of contacts, good advice on everything from where to buy what to how the public transportation system works to where you can find international foods, offers of impromptu coffee mornings and walks in the park, day trips to points of interest in and around Dresden, and excellent advice on transitioning from those who have gone through it.
Our DIS Community Network organizes language ambassadors. If you wish, a parent representative speaking your language will contact you. Just let us know via email and we will support you. If you would like to become an ambassador, please send an email too.
Upon arrival, we offer a Welcome Day where new families will meet and mix with their buddy families, receive a Welcome Package and essential information about DIS.
DIS also has a Student Ambassador Program where a current DIS student in the same class helps your child navigate his or her new life at DIS.
